Partial Tuition

Youth who grow up in care have a high school completion rate of 40%, compared to the average population whose completion rate is 77%.  This is due to a number of factors including instability; stigmatization; physical, emotional and mental health issues; isolation; lack of role models and mentors; etc.  In addition, 40% of youth in care of Peel Children’s Aid have been identified as having more than one learning difficulty.  It is no wonder that youth who grow up in care are more likely to be UN- or under-employed, homeless, on social assistance, or involved in the criminal justice system.

Higher education can improve a youth’s chance for future success.  Tuition assistance is available for post-secondary education through university or community college and for trade/vocational training.
